Container ship at sea

How It Works

From your plans to your door, with nothing left to chance.

Six steps, one supplier, one price. Here is exactly what happens between your first upload and the day the crates arrive—including the parts other suppliers leave vague: shipping, customs, and delivery.

  1. 01

    Day 1

    Send plans or configure online

Upload architectural drawings, a window schedule, photos of existing openings—or build each unit in the configurator. Approximate dimensions are fine; nothing is manufactured until shop drawings are approved.

    • PDF plans, Excel schedules, or configured units
    • Tell us new build vs. replacement and your timeline
    • A specialist is assigned the same day
  2. 02

    [X] business days

    Detailed door-to-door quote

You receive an itemized quote with a drawing for every unit, the glass and hardware specified, and a single delivered price per line. Ocean freight, customs, duties, and final-mile delivery are included.

    • One price per unit, delivered
    • No port fees, brokerage, or surprise invoices
    • Revisions tracked by version in your account
  3. 03

    [X] weeks

    Approve shop drawings

After you accept the quote and pay the deposit, we confirm final dimensions—usually with your contractor on site—and issue shop drawings. You review and approve (e-sign) in your account. This is the point of no return, and we make sure you are confident at it.

    • Field-verified dimensions
    • Clear opening, egress, and anchoring details
    • Approve or request changes online
  4. 04

    [X] weeks

    Manufacture

Your units go into production in our factory: profiles cut and welded or crimped, glass units sealed, hardware fitted, finishes applied. Progress is visible per unit in your order.

    • German aluminum systems, European PVC profiles, laminated timber
    • Glass manufactured in-house
    • Per-unit production status
  5. 05

    [X] days

    Quality inspection & crating

Every unit is tested, measured, photographed, and crated in custom timber crates built for ocean transport. The photos are uploaded to your order so you can see exactly what was packed.

    • Operational test of every sash and lock
    • Photo record per unit
    • A-frame racks for oversized panels
  6. 06

    [X] weeks

    Ship, clear, deliver

The container sails from the port of Durrës to a US port. Our US company is the importer of record, so customs and duties are handled without you. Once cleared, we schedule a delivery window and a liftgate truck brings the crates to your site.

    • Container number, vessel, and ETA in your account
    • Customs status updates
    • Delivery appointment scheduled with you

Shipping & customs, explained simply

You never touch the paperwork.

Importing building products sounds complicated because it usually is. We removed the complexity by making our US company the importer of record. That means ALAX files the customs entry, pays the duties, and clears the shipment—then bills you one delivered price. The container number and vessel are in your account; the broker paperwork never is.

What to expect on delivery day

  1. 1

    We call ahead

A delivery window is scheduled with you in advance. Most deliveries arrive on a truck with a liftgate.

  2. 2

    Be on site

You or your contractor should receive the crates. Large lift-and-slide panels may need equipment or extra hands—we tell you beforehand.

  3. 3

    Count & inspect

Check crates against the packing list. Photograph anything that looks off and note it on the delivery receipt before signing.

  4. 4

    Store properly

Keep crates upright, dry, and off the ground until installation. Installation guides are in your Documents.

  5. 5

    Transit damage

Confirmed transit damage is repaired or replaced at no charge. Factory photos make claims straightforward.

Timeline questions

How long, who handles what.

Timelines shown as [X] will be published once confirmed by Alax Inc. Your quote always includes a specific lead time.

Plan for roughly [X weeks] from approved shop drawings to delivery at your door. That covers production, quality inspection, ocean freight, US customs, and final-mile delivery. Your account shows the live status at every stage.

We do. Your quote is door-to-door: ocean freight, import clearance, duties, and delivery to your site are managed by our US company. There are no surprise bills at the port.

Every unit is crated and photographed before it leaves the factory. Inspect on delivery and note anything on the delivery receipt. Confirmed transit damage is replaced or repaired at no charge to you.

We manufacture and deliver. Installation is handled by your contractor or by a certified installer from our Installer Network. We provide detailed installation guides, and our team is available to your installer by phone and video.

We schedule a delivery window with you in advance. Units arrive crated on a truck with a liftgate; you or your contractor should be on site to receive and inspect them. Large lift-and-slide panels may require equipment or extra hands to move—we will tell you in advance.
